1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how OnlineConvertPDF ("we", "our" or "the Service") handles information when you visit the website or use its document tools. The Service includes both browser-based processing and server-assisted conversion. The method used depends on the tool and the options you select.
2. How document processing works
Browser-based tools
For tools that identify themselves as browser-based, your selected document is read by the page and processed on your device. The document is not intentionally uploaded to our conversion API by that tool. Your browser may still contact the website host or third-party providers to load scripts, fonts, advertisements or other resources.
Server-assisted conversion tools
The following conversion workflows use server-side processing in the supplied V11 application: Word to PDF, PDF to Word, Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF, PDF to Excel and PDF to PowerPoint. When you use one of these server-assisted workflows, the selected file is sent to our server over HTTPS, written to a temporary working directory, processed by the conversion software and returned to your browser. The separate server-side HTML rendering API is disabled in this release; the user-facing HTML code and local-file workflows use the browser-based renderer.
The application is configured to remove each conversion's temporary working directory when the request finishes, including normal error paths. Temporary files left behind by an abrupt process or server failure are subject to the configured cleanup job, which is intended to remove old temporary job folders within approximately two hours. Do not upload highly sensitive documents unless this processing arrangement meets your needs.
URL-to-PDF
Public webpage URL conversion and the server-side HTML rendering API are temporarily unavailable in this release. HTML code and local HTML files can still use the browser-based workflow.
3. Information processed
- Documents: Files and content you choose to process. Server-assisted tools transmit the relevant file or HTML content to the conversion server for the requested operation.
- Technical request data: The hosting server or reverse proxy may record IP address, request path, timestamp, user-agent, response status and related operational data in access or error logs. Log retention depends on the deployed server configuration.
- Browser preferences: The website may use local browser storage for settings such as theme preference.
- Third-party services: If advertising, analytics, CAPTCHA, externally hosted scripts or other third-party services are enabled, those providers may collect information under their own privacy policies.
4. Temporary files, retention and deletion
Server-assisted conversions use temporary working folders rather than a permanent user document library. The application attempts to delete those folders after the conversion request completes. A scheduled cleanup job is configured for abandoned temporary folders. Operational logs may be retained separately for security, troubleshooting and server administration. Do not assume that server-assisted files or technical logs are subject to immediate deletion from every backup or infrastructure layer.
5. Cookies and local storage
The website may store functional preferences in your browser. If advertising or analytics services are enabled, those services may use cookies or similar technologies. Browser settings can be used to manage or delete local storage and cookies, although disabling them may affect some website features.
6. Advertising and third-party services
OnlineConvertPDF may use third-party advertising or analytics providers. When such services are enabled, they may receive technical information such as browser identifiers, IP address, cookie identifiers, page URL and interaction events in accordance with their own policies and applicable consent requirements. We do not control third-party processing.
7. Security
We use technical controls intended to protect the service, including HTTPS in production, upload size limits, file-type checks, restricted temporary storage, request throttling and access controls. No internet service or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep a copy of your original documents and avoid uploading information you are not authorized to share.
8. Privacy rights and requests
Depending on your location, applicable privacy laws may provide rights to access, correct, delete or restrict certain personal information. You can contact us through the Contact page to submit a privacy request. We may need sufficient information to verify and respond to a request. This policy is a description of the application's intended data handling and is not a certification of legal compliance.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the application, infrastructure, third-party services or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use our Contact Us page or email [email protected].
Before launch, the site operator should review this policy against the final hosting provider, access-log retention, backup policy, advertising configuration and applicable legal requirements.
